Q The war wages on and all of its travesties. My heart goes out to all who have lost their loved ones. At a recent funeral of a deceased soldier killed in battle, a group of religious folks picketed the funeral with placards such as ".....Soldiers 'deserve' to die!", and "....God wrath punished this soldier!" The parents of the deceased sued the religious group and got a judgment against the religious group. The religious group appeals. Represent the group on appeal and decide the case: Why?

I think that if I represent the group on appeal in this case, then the defense would have to be on the grounds that the religious group has the right to speech like every other American citizen or religious group. Therefore, if this religious group has to win the case, they have to prove that they were speaking what they had felt about soldiers in general. Moreover, this religious group has to prove that they were not pointing out to this particular deceased soldier particularly or specifically. Therefore, they must be spared and not charged for chanting a hate slogan or a hate speech against the entire soldier community.
